About us...

The most important things about the Generous Baker are the ingredients and methods. We're not a fan of preservatives and other nasties and we're not keen on mass produced items, either. We use seasonal locally-grown produce, Lincolnshire organic stone-ground flour, Lincolnshire rapeseed oil, and when we use eggs they are free-range. We bake everything ourselves, and by hand. The 'generous' in the Generous Baker comes from the approach to the way everything is baked.

Steve is the main baker...

After 28 years in IT, Steve Rowland discovered he could bake bread and decided to spend less time looking at a computer screen. Happily, the urge to have a change of career and an interest in baking coincided, and so the Generous Baker began in March 2014. It is currently a home bakery (5 star hygiene certificate) attending markets and food events, supplying cafes and offering pop-up events and courses. Everyone assumes we have a shop, and this is something that will happen but all in good time!

As well as Steve, the Generous Baker calls upon the time and skills of Steve's partner Amy Claridge - a keen cook, cookery demonstrator and supporter of seasonal produce, compassionate farming and 'real food'. Amy has taken part in Masterchef, was a finalist in Gordon Ramsay's Find Me A Fanny and was a Lincolnshire Food Hero on ITV's Countrywise Kitchen.  Amy is also an AGA Ambassador. When not cooking or baking, Amy is a marketing consultant responsible for all the Generous Baker communications.
